This past Saturday began slightly cloudy in Lake San Marcos, but as my family boated
around the lake listening to The Beach Boys’ greatest hits, the sky cleared up, and it became jus another beautiful day on Lake San Marcos. These are some of my favorite days on the lake. I love it when we are on our boat for hours at a time, listening to music, eating chips and guacamole, and observing the newborn swans.
My name is Karrie Kirschenmann and I love Lake San Marcos! My grandparents on both sides of my family and my parents all have homes in Lake San Marcos, so LSM is very close to all of our hearts. I learned how to golf at The Links… Well, I still have a lot to learn, but my brother says I’m not half bad! At LSM, I can do all the activities that I love so much like paddle-boarding, fishing, playing pickleball, and even work on hitting a hole-in-one at The Links.
I am looking forward to sharing the life stories of so many fascinating members of the
LSM community through the Quail Call, as well as anecdotes about the unique amenities and sights in LSM. For example, have you heard of “Dog Rock?” “Dog Rock” is a rock formation near the dam of the lake that mimics the appearance of a dog’s profile. If your boat is facing South, you can find “Dog Rock” on your left. Moreover, my family has identified another rock formation next to “Dog Rock” that looks similar to a koala's head. We have named it “Koala Rock” and you can see it best when your boat is facing North, and you are looking to your right.
Both rock formations are truly fascinating. I hope you enjoy searching for them!
While I thoroughly enjoy my time in LSM, I also love to travel. Last summer, I studied
Ancient Roman History in Rome, and French History in Paris. It was my first time in Europe, and it was a surreal experience, but what made it even more special was when my family came to meet me in Rome, and we embarked on a driving trip through northern Italy. This was the most memorable trip, but I certainly lost count of the different types of pasta I tried! I am so excited to share some of my travel tales with the community of LSM, in hopes that it would provide helpful travel tips for your upcoming vacations. I cannot wait for us to get Karried Away together by the stories that lie within LSM and beyond!
